Since 1959, Hudson Valley Auto Appraisers has been dedicated to excellence in auto appraising for the insurance industry. Over the years, HVAA has expanded its coverage area and now services a wide area of Upstate New York, including the Capital Region, north to the Adirondacks, west to Syracuse, and south to the Burroughs of New York City. In addition, our experienced and knowledgeable appraisers have developed excellent working relationships with hundreds of auto repair shops in our service area.

HVAA Appraisers are licensed by the State of New York. HVAA is a member of the Independent Auto Damage Appraisers Association (
IADA), and holds National Institute of Automotive Excellence (ASE) and I-CAR certification.

We are constantly improving and adapting our management systems to today's ever changing business environment. Our appraisals are written utilizing
the most advanced computerized estimating system. All images are digital. We have incorporated many of the most popular electronic estimation transportation systems including, but not limited to, Process Claims, Scene Access, N-Site Solutions, Claims Force, Unitrin Direct, CCC Information Services, and ADP. Through the use of these cutting edge computer programs, we are able to service our clients in a paperless environment.


  As an Independent Auto Damage Appraisers Association (IADA) member, we incorporate their 20-point Appraisal Program establishing standards that assure quality control for our customers (in addition to furthering vehicle safety standards):

1. Prepare a detailed appraisal utilizing knowledge and experienced personnel.
2. Give proper identification of vehicle including VIN, mileage, year, make, model, body style, options, equipment and packages.
3. Describe condition of vehicle.
4. List unrelated damages.
5. Provide description and photographs/images, of point of impact as required.
6. Stipulate accurate labor time allowances on all items to be repaired or replaced and refinished.
7. Consider replacement allowances only when parts cannot be economically or properly repaired.
8. Consider the use of appropriate quality alternative replacement parts, such as QRP, recycled, rebuilt and or aftermarket parts.
9. Comply with all client instructions and guidelines when provided.
10. Remove overlap on related operations.
11. Identify betterment - depreciation when and or discounts as applicable.
12. Recommend appearance allowances when applicable.
13. Consider plastic, vinyl and Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) where practical and applicable.
14. Report related towing and storage charges.
15. Upon request, include A.C.V. and salvage figures on all vehicles considered to be Borderline or Total Loss.
16. Obtain agreement with repairer unless instructed otherwise by customer.
17. Re-inspect any hidden or additional damages and document as necessary.
18. Maintain a quality control program that includes field reviews of appraisers.
19. Pursue an ongoing training program involving new design changes and repair procedures.
20. Conduct all business in a professional, and ethical manner in accordance with all jurisdictional requirements.
